Bring Loyalty Home

At 12:01 am EST I submitted this video as part of our application to the Pepsi Refresh Everything grant competition. My hands were literally shaking after I hit 'enter,' hoping we would be one of the first eligible 1,000 entries. Competition just to compete is pretty fierce! We'll know October 1 if we made the cut. In the meantime, a huge THANK YOU to the small army that made this video possible: Our amazing pro bono marketing team at Karsh|Hagan in Denver. These folks developed the concept, storyboards and script, not to mention put up with me over the past several weeks to help make … [Read more...]

Remembering WWII

ww2

Charles and his main squeeze after our video shoot Yesterday we held an all-day video shoot starring Charles, our family member, volunteer and WWII veteran. Even though he's shared some of his war memories before, it's entirely different to capture them on film. Maybe it's because we know that his incredible stories, til now shared with only a select few, will be heard by countless others. Maybe it's because recording them somehow makes them real for us, for those that didn't live through that war. … [Read more...]

Help Seleen find her new home

seleen

We received a call yesterday from a veteran referred to us by the Fort Carson Army AW2 Wounded Warrior Program, who is no longer able to care for Seleen, the beautiful dog pictured here. While we don't normally get involved in rehoming pets for individuals, if called upon we'll always try help out in some way. Seleen (just like the Mustang!) is a sweet, well-trained, eight year-old pit bull. She's up to date on all of her shots and currently lives in Pueblo, Colorado. Someone in her community is willing and able to give Seleen her forever home, where she can live out her remaining years … [Read more...]

Honor and remembrance

memorial

With summer on our doorsteps and beautiful weather in communities across the country, it's tempting to spend this long weekend doing all the things we rarely have time to do during the week. Go to the beach. Hit the local park. Enjoy a barbecue with family and friends. There's nothing wrong with any of those things. But this weekend and this day, it's not about throwing another shrimp on the barbie, as they say. Please make room in your schedules and your hearts for those who traded their lives for our freedom. Memorial Day is not a holiday; as its name suggests, its a … [Read more...]
