Listen up! Deaf pets are great pets
Living with a deaf pet brings unique joy and challenges, though these dogs and cats typically have a harder time getting adopted. At Pets for Patriots, our program is dedicated exclusively to connecting military personnel with pets that are most overlooked for adoption, including adults, large breed dogs and special needs dogs and cats. This includes animals that are hearing and sight impaired, and who are no less deserving of a loving home. How pets lose their hearing A hearing-impaired animal might not have been born deaf, but may have lost its hearing due to illness, traumatic injury, Continue reading …

Help rescued Afghan dog reach his soldier
A rescued Afghan dog brought to the United States needs help for his final trip: home to his "adopted" soldier. The dog had been through it all, but last year when his family got orders to fly overseas yet Continue reading …

Increasingly, dogs, cats and other companion animals are the subject of bitter custody fights when couples divorce, and are gaining the upper paw when it comes to estate planning. While the law classifies pets as property, it does Continue reading …

Little dogs bring big changes to veterans’ lives
They say it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog. We'd suggest it's something slightly different: it's the size of the heart in the dog. So it is with two little dogs that are bringing big changes to the lives of the veterans who gave them a second chance at life. Vietnam veteran finally gets a 'thank you' Bob is a Vietnam Army veteran who served during a period in our nation's history when veterans symbolized a deeply unpopular war. There were no parades, no jubilant welcomes home, no thanks for a job well done. Their return was unceremonious at best Continue reading …
