Annie looking like quite the snuggler…
As you may know, we’re experimenting with a new effort to highlight some of the most special pets at our shelter partners that are still in search of their forever homes. Recently we profiled Barley, a beautiful dog who has spent most of his life in a Connecticut shelter in spite of being an all-around great dog.
Today we add to the ‘can’t believe no one adopted this pet yet’ list a beautiful senior dog named Annie. She is currently being cared for by the Allen County SPCA in Fort Wayne, Indiana and is in desperate need of a real, forever home.
Annie is a nine year-old English Pointer mix relinquished by her original owners. Shelters can be a difficult place for any animal, but they’re especially harsh on older dogs. Because of Annie’s aversion to life in a shelter, she’s currently being cared for by a foster family.
Annie stepping out in her foster home…
While Annie is doing better, her heart aches for a forever home. And who can blame her? She spent nine years with a family that decided they just don’t want her anymore. Annie is extremely affectionate once she warms up to someone, and is perfect for the right person: patient and wanting to spend a lot of time with a docile, loving pet.
Annie’s dream is to find her loving home with someone who wants a companion to be always by their side. She epitomizes the loyal, loving dog that wants nothing more than to sleep beside her owner’s bed or watch TV on their lap. She is, in every sense of the word, a true companion.
Annie would do best with a family with older children or a quiet home environment. She gets along well with cats, but prefers to be the only dog in the household. While calm, fireworks and thunder frighten her. In short, she’s a sweet, mellow girl looking for love!
Annie is the perfect companion!
